Kansas City Chief linebacker Jovan Belcher‘s blood-alcohol was twice the legal limit when he killed his girlfriend and then himself on December 1st, reveals the autopsy released today. Police reports say Belcher killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, at the couple’s Kansas City home, then drove to the team’s practice site and committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager. According to the autopsy, Belcher’s blood-alcohol level was 0.17, more than double the legal limit for driving in Missouri (.08). It was likely even higher at the time of the shooting. Sources say Belcher had struggled with alcohol abuse and addiction to painkillers following a past head injury. Perkins had almost no alcohol in her system, according to the report, and neither Perkins nor Belcher tested positive for illegal drugs.
