Continuing to draw sympathy from her 2011 divorce from comedian Russell Brand, pop singer Katy Perry appeared on the British talk show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, to reveal more details from that rather well-covered split.
Perry opened up about sinking to her lowest depths and how emotionally difficult that period was. “You know, I was going through a period where a lot of negative thoughts were entering my mind,” she told host Alan Carr. “Obviously they did not succeed, but I had my confidence kind of beaten down.” When asked by Carr what she did to pick herself up, Perry responded: “I did a lot of different things,” she said. “I surrounded myself with my good friends, I did this whole cleanse where I didn’t have any of the alcohol for three months – that was devastating – I did vitamins and supplements, and hikes and meditation and prayer.”
Of course, Perry has been quite vocal about her two-year-old split from Brand, stating in Marie Claire that she did nothing but eat Cheetos and drink, while in the U.K.’s Sunday Times she confessed to staying in bed for a solid two weeks. Her statements came in support of her new album, Prism, which featured the No. 1 hit, “Roar.”
The show was prerecorded and aired on Friday, Dec. 19th on Channel 4.
