Wanna get fried with that burger?
A Bronx McDonald’s manager was collared this week for allegedly selling coke out of the 24-hour fast food joint.
Frank Guerrero was caught up in the greasy net of a bust dubbed “Operation Off the Menu.” (Seriously.)
The sting operation kicked off three months ago, when cops started making undercover buys at the 1600 Bruckner Boulevard location where the 26-year-old flipped burgers as a night shift manager.
“Guerrero’s conduct was so blatant, it would be comical if he weren’t committing a serious narcotics crime,” said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan, according to the New York Post. “Ordering coke took on an entirely different meaning on the night shift at this McDonald’s.”
Over the course of the investigation, prosecutors say Guerrero made eight sales to plainclothes officers, regularly upping the sale quantities till he forked over $10,900 worth of blow. Sometimes he allegedly left the drugs in a bathroom hiding spot and other times he did deals in the parking lot. On two occasions, he allegedly stuffed the coke in a cookie bag served with two cheeseburgers, a soda and fries.
When police eventually arrested the 26-year-old at work and raided his home, they reportedly found 200 grams of coke and around $5,300 cash, hidden inside a child’s play room. The child’s mother was arrested for drug paraphernalia and unlawfully dealing with a child, while Guerrero was also hit with multiple drug possession charges.
Earlier this year, a pair of Burger King employees made national headlines when they were arrested for allegedly selling drugs out of the drive-thru window, where customers used the code “fries extra crispy” to get small amounts of pot. Two workers were arrested, though one said she knew nothing of the shady goings-on and had just handed over bags of food as usual.
Over the summer, a number of Papa John’s employees in Washington were busted for allegedly selling coke in the pizzeria parking lot, stuffing the drug in empty pie boxes. Investigators dubbed the case “Operation Extra Olives,” and their cheesy sleuthing efforts yielded a trove of drugs including coke, ecstasy, oxycodone, LSD, marijuana and meth.
